It was a last minute decision, so I'm glad it was so well received. Everyone had great comments.

I haven't heard from Mandy yet, but I don't know, should we move on to the next book?Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02594723484630105259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6669268853589233531.post-87199175017289049452008-09-22T06:05:00.000-07:002008-09-22T06:05:00.000-07:00I finally finished. Made me think how lucky and blessed I am to not have experienced anything terrible in my life.Catherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05507543790404283961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6669268853589233531.post-7736254721079416892008-09-15T11:38:00.000-07:002008-09-15T11:38:00.000-07:00I also loved how she was able to write about some ...I also loved how she was able to write about some very difficult & dark topics without being explicit. I think that's true talent in writing. The movie was very similar to the book. I did enjoy this book even if it was a little depressing at the beginning. However, we do have challenges that we go through in life. Melinda was able to get through the terrible thing that had happened to her. I'm so grateful there are people in our lives who help us through these hard times.Emileehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17122048898323191262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6669268853589233531.post-43353241655678202432008-09-12T16:22:00.001-07:002008-09-12T16:22:00.001-07:00P.S. (And though the the trauma she went through was terrible, it wasn't explicit.)
Some of the best literature ever written took on some dark topics. But it is about the triumph of the human spirit. It's about getting through, surviving and then thriving.
It may be my degree that made me this way, or it may be I chose my degree because I am this way, but I am big on introspection, on processing emotions and experiences, on having a clear self-concept. This book was a chance to witness these things. I thought it was a terrific book.Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06345017129849718843noreply@blogger.com
